I’m reading a book about things that go way over my head,
It’s all about string theory and quantum physics
And it blows my mind that there’s all this stuff
That I’m never even going to have time to learn.
Perhaps if I had taken some of those alternative routes
I’d be winning awards for sciencey shit?
But then maybe it’s better to be proficient in arty stuff,
To open the minds of the masses, rather than just the elite
In stuffy books with words too long to even pronounce.
I’m probably a leader in the field of physics in one reality,
And maybe, for that matter, I might have been successful
In the path I actually took.

Some years back I delved deep into such things… and cobbled together a theory which underlies the world-building of my books, with never one intruding. Art and science can combine… even if the scientist will call my theory tosh.

My mind feels like it’s exploding whenever I read this kind of stuff. None of us know the truth so a scientist can laugh at you all they want, they don’t know the real story either!

Theories… and as history has proven, theories are so often overthrown, replaced and changed. 🙂

Aristotle famously wrote, “The more you know, the more you realize you don’t know.”

And that is why life is so bloody frustrating!!!! I’m starting to think that whoever wrote ‘ignorance is bliss’ had it right too….

I consider myself both a scientist and an artist.

That’s the best way to be. I always think it’s best to tackle things from different directions. The people who are both religious and scientific always have such interesting ideas about life and those big questions.
