life with no wifi

mountain scenery

I feel cut off from the world I’ve known,

For like five minutes, anyway.

And then my feelings surge back in

Like water rushing for the plughole.

Slowly crosswords fill my life

And reading books by authors I never knew before.

The words are savoured like bonbons on my tongue,

Not hurried in between the mindless Facebook posts.

I never want to go back to that life,

Keep me here where lives are lived

And wifi ebbs away……..
