They make me wanna dance
With their joyful energy
The kind you see in love
When inhibitions leave us high and dry
And feet will dance on silver stars.
The Barden Bellas have just released a song for Unicef and it’s reminded me just how bloody brilliant they were. If you haven’t watched any of the Pitch Perfect movies then you need to sort that out right now and prepare to have a major girl crush on all of them.
But I did want this post to be less about me fan-girling and more about the effect the video had on me when I watched it this afternoon.
I can sometimes feel a bit bleurgh and watching music videos can really help to pick me up. And this did just that for me today. The joy that came out through the screen was so much that I felt like I’d caught it like a cold.
I remember when I was a teenager and I used to watch Backstreet Boys and Britney videos on repeat and it just made me feel so alive. I don’t feel it quite so much when I’m just listening to music. There’s something about watching the artist perform their song that it magical.
I really encourage you to watch the Barden Bellas video. And if it doesn’t do anything for you then I can give you a list of 90’s videos that might do the trick.
Much Love

I was a teen when MTV came to be-I was obsessed! Long time ago…😃

I could have watched it all day as a teenager!

It’s funny how what you (and most thirtysomething girls) mean when you say “90s music” is so different from what I mean when I say “90s music.”

Haha, yeah, my 90’s experience is the second half. I kind of missed the Teen Spirit years!

True. But I wasn’t thinking so much early 90s vs. late 90s as I was different genres. When thirtysomething women were preteens listening to the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears, I was listening to Matchbox Twenty and Barenaked Ladies.
