apparently these changes are ‘exciting’

Those words like ‘exciting’ or ‘new and improved’

They scream to me that I should run,

That comfort has been torn from me, and in its place

A void that crashes in upon itself

While all the people near to me

Laugh, shout with glee, enjoy themselves,

Because change is good, apparently.

I got an email the other day. It was from my mentor at my first school placement and she was saying how excited they were to have me back after Easter. Then she dropped the bombshell that there have been loads of ‘exciting’ changes to the school and the department.

My insides clenched on seeing those words. I feel like most people would be positive enough to think that these would be changes for the positive. But in my warped little mind, these changes are put there to catch me out; trip me up.

I am a staunch hater of change and I’m dreading the idea that nothing is going to be the same. With a little bit of luck they have just moved around the furniture in the staff room, but there is always the worry that things could be completely turned on their head.

Let’s just keep fingers crossed.

Much Love

Rachel xx

Change can be hard, especially if the routine you’ve had is comfortable. But it is also inevitable. So learning to deal with it is, I think, part of being an adult. Hopefully whatever is new will work well, and you’ll get accustomed to it.
