You are funny,
You are lovely,
You’re probably the prettiest girl in the room,
And you know why it is?
It’s because you are strong
And you’re loving yourself
In a way that is beautiful,
So keep up the good work.
I had a meeting with the Assistant Head at school today. She runs the course for the early career teachers, so I was a bit worried about what the feedback would be.
I was worried, but I also know that I’ve come on in leaps and bounds over the past few weeks and so I could go into the meeting with concrete evidence around why I’m on track.
As I talked through some of the improvements I’ve made, she just smiled at me and I felt a bit awkward. As I paused she said, it’s so nice to see you looking this confident; I’ve never seen you speaking this way.
I was kind of taken aback, but then I felt a little buzz of pride in myself because confidence is never something I really exude. It was a really pleasant experience and it makes me aware of how much I’m growing as a person as I make my way along this teaching journey.

I’ve noticed you growing in confidence too, Rachel! You’re learning, you’re facing your mistakes and doing better because of them, and you’re gaining in so many ways. It’s a pleasure to see.
It’s great that your confidence is affirmed. You’ve earned it and you should have it.
