I’ve seen the first of the Christmas ads
And I’ve heard that song by Mariah Carey
But it seems like it’s way too bloody early
It almost feels a little bit scary.
*
Where has a whole year gone?
It feels like last week it was June
The flowers in beautiful bloom
And the longest of holidays coming up soon.
*
But now the leaves have all blown away
The nights are as cold as can be
And I am left casually wondering
If it’s too early to put up the tree?

I’m seeing a lot of holiday stuff being up early, too, Rachel, and hearing Christmas carols, too. It does seem awfully early, doesn’t it? But I know there are people who wait all year to put up the tree, etc.. Other people don’t go for the holiday thing nearly as much. I suppose it’s down to what you prefer?

And it has been a bit of a depressing year, especially here in the UK. Perhaps we need a bit of sparkle even if it is early?

I know how you’re feeling. Where did the year go??? For me it’s too early to decorate but I have started making gifts and almost turned on some Christmas music today. 🙂

I sang a Christmas song under my breath today. My son told me that I really needed to shut up.

LOL! Ignore him and keep singing!

Yes, it is.

Your poem raises good questions as a challenge. In the USA, there will be Thanksgiving as a kind of buffer between Hallowe’en and Christmas. Not that it works that way, since we’ve had Christmas ads since August. But my mother used to say for our family that the Christmas season did not begin until Santa Claus appeared at the end of the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade. That timing is still meaningful to me.

I feel it’s too early, too. But time seems to be speeding by at horrific rate and if I wait & wait, Christmas will find me unprepared. Mmm, another year. 😊😊😊
