writing is just as entertaining as reading

Just because they’re your own words

It doesn’t mean they’re not as fun

To lose yourself within

To fall in love with characters

And wonder where it ends.

A question for those who write: do you find that writing is just as much fun as reading? Is it as entertaining? Can you get just as lost in your own words as someone elses?

I’d argue that yes, it as fun. I guess that is because I don’t always know where my stories are going and sometimes my characters can surprise me and throw me a bit of a curveball.

I can spend hours writing my own stuff and not only is it fun, but I have something to show for it at the end. So writing wins… I think.

Much Love

Sometimes it really is blissfully fun, Rachel. I love catching up on my characters’ lives. And it’s funny: a lot of people think of writers as puppet-masters who determine the lives of their characters. The truth is, though (at least for me) is that my characters tell me their stories. On the other hand, I learn so much from reading other people’s writing. I think all writers should also be avid readers.
