seeking out those special moments

They’re out there, somewhere in the dark;

Those moments, that don’t belong to you,

But even watching, eavesdropping, rubbing in

The goodness of that speck of time

Will always leave you on a happy high.

I love looking for wonderful moments in amongst all the horrible. I wrote yesterday about all the bad news that we get bombarded with and I do try to counteract that with some of the positive stuff.

And I don’t even mean stopping and smelling the fresh air and admiring the beauty of a sunset. I mean, actually enjoying someone else’s happy moment. There are loads of these moments out there, you just have to keep your eyes open for them.

I watched a video of two of my facebook friends getting engaged in London during the New Year fireworks. It was a beautiful moment, but I was surprised to notice that not a lot of people were all that bothered. They were just wandering past, oblivious to the fact that somebody within feet of them was experiencing one of the best moments of their life.

And when I was last in an airport – way back before the pandemic – I watched a guy as we were waiting for our taxi. He was waiting with a rose in his hand at the bottom of the escalator. I think I was more excited than him to see who came down the steps, and when they fell into each others arms, I almost started crying (I blame it on the jetlag).

But, nobody else was watching. Everyone was too busy rushing to their own destination, and I found that sad. Make sure you take the time to slow down and notice if something nice is happening. Good feelings multiply so you might as well grab hold of them if they’re flying around free of charge.

Much Love

Rachel xx

    This special moments are such a tonic, aren’t they, Rachel? I’ve seen some of them myself. There are even those quiet ones that are just as special. For instance, I was walking down the street one day and i saw a young couple walking along. She was heavily pregnant, and they looked so happy and excited just to be together. I wondered if they were planning what the baby’s room would look like… Also I love it when I see people buying flowers. It makes me wonder who the flowers are for, and I imagine the scene when the person gets the flowers.
