to buy or not to buy?

The book is almost out, and pre-orders

Are spilling in at Barnes and Noble, Waterstones.

We’re all like animals, waiting for

The little titbits tossed out for our entertainment.

But at the heart of this sad and ugly mess

Is a family, torn apart and hurting hard,

So think before you buy…

I’m debating whether or not to buy Prince Harry’s book that is being released on Tuesday here in the UK. On the one hand, I really want to devour all the juicy gossip, but on the other, I feel like we need to remember this is a real family.

I have to admit that sometimes I view what is happening a bit like a soap opera and it easy to forget that there is obviously a hell of a lot of anger, resentment and hurt at the heart of all this. And this stems from way before Meghan entered the picture so it’s not fair to blame her.

It’s going to be interesting to see how all the interviews over the weekend pan out and whether the Palace decide to issue a statement in response. So far, everything Harry has said has been met with a rather eerie silence.

Much Love

It is important to remember that these are real people with real pain and real issues, Rachel. I don’t think I’d want people devouring a book about my family, trolling me and my family and judging everyone. Being the subject of gossip like that is hard enough, but when you’re hurting, too, it’s got to be horrible for them all, no matter where you stand on the various people involved. I don’t know whether I’ll read the book or not, but the whole situation is really sad, isn’t it?

This is simply my perception of things, but I feel like if Harry did not want an audience to know about these hardships, he would not have published a book about them. Author’s typically want their books to be read. However, I do agree that readers should keep in mind that these are real people facing very trying times, and the events portrayed are for informative value rather than entertainment.
