Shiny and beautiful
It just makes the cake
I draws you to the bakery window
Licking your lips
Forgetting the diet
And remembering just how sweet
Our little life can be.
I had a bit of a tough week at work this week, and I couldn’t wait for it to be over. So, I was slogging my way through my final lesson on Friday afternoon, with a class full of eleven year old who probably wanted to be there even less than I did.
And then, just before the bell went, while we were packing away books and pencil cases, a boy in the front row leaned in towards me and said ‘thanks for a really nice lesson, miss.’
My heart melted just a little bit. That boy probably had no idea that I’d had a tough week, but he just happened to say a really nice thing at a time that I really needed it.
And it meant that I could go home for the weekend with a smile on my face. It was a sweet little cherry that prettied up a rather ugly week.
Much Love

I’m so glad for you, Rachel. Teachers work so hard, and so often have THOSE DAYS. It’s lovely when someone lifts you up like that. And I’ll bet your lesson was great! Put that in your bank for the next time the waves come crashing over you…

Wow, what a wonderful moment. Well done, everyone.

Aww. How sweet. Also, now that I’m not hiding on WordPress the fact that I’m a teacher, I can say I definitely know how it feels for one of the students to say something like that.
