To save or to travel?
That is the question,
Planes across continents
Road trips and sunsets,
Or a great bulging bank balance
And a house to rent out?
Serious question to everyone out there. We live in a pretty difficult time with bills and food costs going through the roof. But I have a bit of saving and I keep wondering what I should do.
I want to go to Disney and South Africa and I could probably do both within the next few years. But then with a little more work, I could buy a second property and start earning on that.
Do you just live life like it’s a business venture, but always know that you’ll be comfortable, or do you scrimp and save to go on adventures?
I guess there is probably a split between the kind of person who saves and the kind who spends. I sit somewhere in the middle so I just don’t know whether to live recklessly for a bit. After all, I don’t know what’s around the corner.

I know what you mean about wanting to travel, Rachel! It’s so enriching and, let’s face it, fun. And we do only get one dance in this world, so I can see the appeal of doing something like travel. On the other hand, nest eggs are important, and safe, and valuable. And when you’re no longer able to travel, you’ll be glad of knowing you’ve got the funds for the life you can lead. Perhaps a mix? Do one travel thing and save some, too?
