Did they know as they sat at the pottery wheel
And the juke box played that iconic song?
And did they know as they stood on the ship
Wind in hair and arms outstretched?
Did they have an inkling when Uma challenged John
To a Pulp Fiction dance off on stage?
And when they brushed spunk through her hair
Did they know that movie magic was made?
I love movies, but I always wonder whether the actors and crew know when they are filming something that is going to be remembered forever. Is there a magic in the air? Is there an energy that is only felt once in a career?
I think that you must know to a certain extent. Movies are stories and so they’re all about that human connection. They must know when something gives you goosebumps, or makes you laugh until you can’t breathe.
It must be amazing to look back on your career and know that something you have created has formed part of our popular culture. Of course, it is then kind of hard to shake that image when everyone knows you as the girl who brushed semen through her hair, or the man who birthed himself out of a rhino’s bum. I guess everything swings in roundabouts.

Oh, I would guess that the stars, directors, and so on know when cinematic magic is being made. When something is that electric, powerful, whatever, it’s got to be almost palpable, I would think. And now you’re making me think of other iconic scenes like that (‘I’ll have what she’s having..’)

There are so many that I would love to have been part of. And I wonder how they celebrate when the scene is ‘in the can’. Do they all sit silently with their breath taken away, or do they cheer and high five?
