The Pyramid Stage is lit like a Christmas tree,

An audience pulsing with their hot excitement,

Waiting for the guest extraordinaire,

We know it’s Elton and those flags will fly

Fluttering in the wind – like a candle

But the Rocketman needs a leading lady

And why not use a face we love,

One we wish the best for, through all that shit

We’ve watched her dragged through for the money

A family torn apart, but she’s back –

You know it’s britney, bitch.

I make no secret of the fact that I’m a huge Britney fan. She came out when I was fourteen and so she was the person I latched onto and looked up to during my formative years. And then, I got married the same year as her, had my son the same year she had her first and then my marriage broke down at about the same time as hers.

I’ve since watched all the awful things that have happened to her and my heart does break for her. I’m so glad that she has now found some sort of freedom, although it is pretty obvious that some serious scars have been left behind.

So imagine my joy when I saw that she was trending on Twitter because there is a rumour doing the rounds that she will be appearing on the Pyramid Stage with Elton John at Glastonbury tonight.

Please God, I know there are serious problems out there in the world, but if you could give us Britney back, just for one night, the world might seem like a better place for an hour or two. That is all.
