Miss Scarlett was found dead in the library,
A candlestick holder beside her, covered in blood
And a gaggle of guests hover around her, nervously,
Waiting for the old lady, a rap of her stick
And a glare at the guests, each one in turn.
She’ll work it out, the person who dunnit,
Digging up something that everyone missed,
An email or note that gives it away.
While we were on holiday we ordered one of those home detective packs where you are given some documents and you have to work out who committed the crime.
It was so much fun, kind of like doing an escape room but in the comfort of your own home. I enjoyed it so much so, that I have started to create my own. It’s really testing me as a writer to create a storyline and the evidence that will drip feed my reader with information.
It has really made me fully appreciate the skill of those great writers like Agatha Christie. What a legend and what a master of a very difficult artform. I’ll let you all know when I’m done and perhaps one of you can do a read through for me?

I’m so glad you’re trying your hand at a crime story, Rachel! How exciting, and I’ll bet it’ll be great. I would be honoured to read it if you’d like me to do that. Just let me know!

I’ll keep you posted. It’s really fun because it’s fusing art and design with writing – two of my loves (even if my self taught ways aren’t up to professional standards)!

I’ll read it
