joining in with stuff
Those clubs that shine like precious things
That can’t be touched unless you’re rich
In fun and charm and personality.
For those of us that are a little shy
We wish we could get in, we hope to join
And yet we are too scared to raise
Our hands and say – pick us,
Pick me, as long as I can sit at home
When all these clubs get far too much to bear.
I’m not one of those people who typically joins in with things. I like to turn off my computer and be out of school by 4:30pm, because I love to be home. I don’t go out of my way to find ways to stay later than necessary (btw, I do work at home; I would just rather do my planning while sitting next to my cat).
However, over the past few weeks there have been a few events and activities that have really made me feel excited. And so I have found myself actually signing up for these things.
In the past few days I have agreed to do tutoring for some Year 8s, I’ve signed up to teach crochet to Year 11s and I’ve signed up to the school triathlon competition.
What the hell is happening to me? I’m becoming a team player and my poor cat is starting to feel very lonely – sorry Joseph.
